Belaku Eye Hospital Specialization

General Ophthalmology:
Doctors at Belaku Eye Hospital perform comprehensive eye examinations and surgical evaluations. It involves providing eye care from Reflective Error Correction (examining visual changes and prescribing glasses) to diagnosing and treatment of eye related disease.

Cataract Surgery:
Cataract surgery involves removal of natural lens of the eye (Crystalline lens) that has developed over time an opaque layer restricting the vision. The metabolic changes of lens fibers over time leads to the development of cataract and thus results in loss of transparency, causing impairment or loss of vision. First symptom that one can determine the occurrence of such crystalline lens is by the strong glare that one experiences from light and during night the source of light narrows along with reduced acuity at low light levels.

Under cataract surgery, the patients cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with synthetic lens that restores the lens's transparency.

At Belaku Eye Hospital Phaco Emulsification Cataract Surgery, Small Incision Cataract Surgery, A G Laser for Secondary Cataract Surgery are performed.

Retina Correction:
At Belaku Eye Hospital diagnosis and treatment of Retinal diseases including Laser for Diabetes.

Glaucoma:
Glaucoma is a disease caused by increased intraocular pressure from either malformation or malfunctioning of eye's drainage structure. If such a state is left untreated, an elevated IOP causes irreversible damage to optic nerve and retinal fibers, which results in permanent loss of vision. Early deduction and treatment can slow the process and even stop from progression of the disease.

Most of the patients require only medication to control and where surgery is where medical treatment does not help control the progression. There are several types of procedures, some involve laser and others need extensive operation.

At Belaku Eye Hospital correct diagnosis and treatment is administered with operations as option when medication does not help ease disease.

Squint:
Squint is a misalignment of the two eyes such that both the eyes look at different directions. This may be constant, being present throughout the day or it may appear sometime and rest of the time the eyes may be straight. It's a common condition among children as well as adults.

Squint causes a child to ignore the image coming from the deviated eyes, thus see only one image. In the process, child loses the depth perception. And an adult cannot ignore the image from either eye, and therefore has double vision (monocular vision). This causes annoyance; and interferes with day to day functioning.

At Belaku Eye Hospital we try to preserve or restore vision, straighten the eyes and restore binocular vision.

Orbit and Oculoplasty:
The Orbit and Oculoplasty deals with various diseases of eyelids and orbits (sockets). This includes a vast spectrum of disorders and are managed by Oculoplastic surgery.

At Belaku Eye Hospital we have surgeons who are well trained and experienced in the of rectification by Oculoplasty.
